RETURN TO your ROOTS

At The Common Yogi, we return to the roots. With a focus on raw, traditional Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin Yoga. A slow, steady, breath-led practice that meets you exactly where you are.

  • Hatha Yoga is a traditional style of yoga that focuses on gentle physical postures, breathing techniques, and mindful relaxation to support balance in the body and mind.

Originating in ancient India, Hatha Yoga forms the foundation of many modern yoga practices.

  • Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic style of yoga that links breath with a flowing sequence of postures. Developed and popularised in the 20th century by K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India, this practice follows a set series of poses performed in a specific order.

In our classes, we incorporate a mixture of Ashtanga-inspired movements to help build strength, flexibility, stamina, and mental clarity while encouraging a deeper connection between body, breath, and mind.

  • Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative style of yoga that focuses on holding gentle poses for longer periods of time to encourage deep relaxation and release within the body. Yin Yoga targets the body’s connective tissues such as ligaments, joints, and fascia.

This calming practice helps improve flexibility, reduce tension, and create space for stillness and mindfulness. By slowing down and holding poses for several minutes, Yin Yoga encourages a deeper connection between body, breath, and awareness.

  • Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy healing practice developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It works with the body’s natural energy to promote relaxation, balance, and overall wellbeing.

Through light touch or hands placed just above the body, Reiki supports the release of energetic blockages and encourages the natural flow of life force energy, helping to restore harmony to the mind, body, and spirit.

ABOUT THE COMMON YOGI.

Founder and certified yoga teacher Jacqueline Lea is deeply passionate about sharing her love for yoga in its most raw and authentic form.

Jacqueline has built a space that feels safe, supportive, and welcoming to all, creating classes that are designed for every body.

Following a blend of movement (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana), these sessions are dedicated to holding space for students to build strength, find stillness, and reconnect with themselves and the community around them.

Honouring her Indian heritage and strong belief that yoga should be accessible for everyone, Jacqueline founded The Common Yogi.

Because yoga should not be reserved for the enlightened few. Yoga should simply be… common.

Reiki Healing

Reiki is a gentle, holistic energy healing practice that works to restore balance in the body, mind, and spirit. By connecting to the universal life force energy that flows through all living things, Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal and promotes a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

If you are experiencing emotional or physical challenges, Reiki can offer a nurturing space to pause, reconnect, and begin your healing journey. During a session, energy is channelled through light touch or just above the body, helping to release energetic blockages and encourage the natural flow of energy.
